SCREEN DOWN, FACE UP: How Restorative Justice has restored my practice.

I sincerely believe that being trained in Restorative Justice has given my educator practice new life. I became an educator because feeling like you have reached a young person is one of the most profound experiences one can have. There will always be times that young adults put up walls in an effort to cope with the world around them. These days this most often takes the form of being distracted by some sort of electronic device. As long as we remain distracted, we never have to face up to the way our actions affect others. With restorative justice or RJ as it is called for short, screens go down, and we must Face Up. We must talk about how we are being affected by one another. So let's all circle up and FACE UP!
